Vintage Yard Sale!!

Ugg, moving, why are you so dreadful? It's actually not as bad as it has been in the past and I'm so proud of myself for getting rid of so much stuff. Which leads to the title of this post, Vintage Yard Sale! If you will be in the RI/Mass area on Saturday or Sunday, May 17-18, please do stop by. I promise it will be worth your while. It will be at my parents' house in Tiverton, RI. There will be lots and lots of clothes including vintage shoes, bags, dresses, coats, etc. Also lots of neat stuff from the 90's to the present that's just doesn't fit me anymore. Also fabric, art supplies, picture frames, etc. It pangs me to get rid of most of it, but I can't keep dragging it along with me, everywhere I go. It needs a new home.

I Wasn't Expecting This

So I started an etsy store a few days ago (fidgetfinds.etsy.com). I haven't announced it here yet because there's only a few things up and I wanted to wait until I did the big spring update. However, Agathe, from the famous Stylebytes bought this vintage faux Dior tennis bag that I had for sale. I was so excited and was hoping that she was going to post something about it on her blog and list my site. Well, she did but not quite in the way that I expected it. Read the article here.

Ch-ch-ch-changes

Sorry I haven't been posting very regularly lately, there's just a lot of changes going on in my life right now. But lots of new and exciting things are on the way! I am in the process of moving to a new apartment downtown, and changing up the shop (we will be moving to etsy). I am very excited about what the future has to hold and hope you'll come along with me for the ride. I'll be back to posting more often in a week or so and can't wait to show you what my new apartment looks like (hint: rooftop deck over looking downtown, the harbor, and newport bridge!) For now I'm packing and enjoying this absolutley wonderful weather! Be back soon!

Thrift Score

Went to a few thrift stores yesterday and today and picked up quite a few good finds. Total cost: $30.16.

Love these two skirts. The plaid is great and seeing as it's thin cotton it'll be great for summer even though it's chocolate brown. There's something about this floral print that I love. It's kinda a mix between vintage print and granny chic.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Ms. Purple here. I'll probably chop the top and shorten the hem to make a cool skirt. This bright floral dress is great but it's too big and too conservative. I've got to take it in and do something about the neckline. The tag is in the back so the zipper goes in front?

Some awsome fabric finds. The one on the left is really thick, perfect for some totes. The one in the middle is gorgeous! I'll have to make something classy and fitted. The one on the right is actually a very sack like dress, but I'm sure hope is not lost.

80's Purple

After Sally Jane posted about the great vintage style sunglasses at 80'sPurple.com, I decided to check out the site, which has some really great things. My favorite things to buy, wear, and design are dresses, so of course that's the first thing I look at when I find a new site. I found some amazing ones! Here are three of my favorites:

The top tow are by Rojas (you gotta go to the sight and check out the other views of the purple one) and the bottom by Orla Keily.

Florida Part Deux

After a good night's sleep, we headed down to Key Largo where we hung out at some hotel's beach and stayed at a friend's house. We saw manatees! Oh the manatees! What wonderful creatures! Did you know that they looovve fresh water, including drinking it out of a garden house? Who knew? We saw a mama and a baby and they hung out with us for quite a while too. That was definitely one of the highlights of the entire trip. The next morning we took it easy lounging out at the end of a dock we found on the drive back. The water is so beautiful. Sure I see lots of it everyday here, but it's not that turquoise blue color. We saw lots of fish and a sting ray just gliding by.

Florida Part Un

Well, I don't even know where to begin... the trip was absolutely amazing and definitely needed. I had such a great time and it was so nice to just be warm for a change! So the first day... after my sister picked me up from the airport we headed down to this tiki bar on the beach that some of her friends work at. We had a few beverages, waded in the water, and played a pretty brutal game of beach volleyball. Not a sport I recommend playing in a vintage dress.

Style Collage

One last style collage post from the weekend. I forgot to put it up before. Sorry the photos are so big, I've had it with photobucket, seriously. It shut down Safari when I tried to resize the photos on three separate occasions. I have so many problems with that site. What other photo hosting site should I use? Please give me your ideas. Anyways... out to a friend's gallery opening in town. I'm standing in my office/workroom. I don't think I've shown pictures of it before. Love that chair, it was a yard sale find from last summer.

Sunshine State

Well, it's official, one week from today I will be on a plane heading down to the sunny state of Florida to visit my sister. I am so excited! Warm weather, the beach, and maybe most importantly, warm weather style collage posts! I can't wait to break out all my summer frocks, short shorts (without leggings), tank tops, and vintage sunglasses. It will be so much fun to play dress up again without having to worry about freezing to death upon walking out the front door.

Bergdorf's

I recently got my hands on the Resort/Holiday 2007 (better late than never) Bergdorf Goodman Magazine. It's the one that they send all their wealthy clients but you can pick them up at the store too. I love Bergdorf's. I know it's obscenely expensive and a bit snoody at times, but whenever I was there doing market research projects for school or just looking around, everyone that worked there was helpful and accommodating. Except when I had to return about $10,000 worth of clothing for work and they weren't too psyched about that, understandably. Of course the clothing that they carry is phenomenal, that can go without being said. Anyways, I love this photo shoot. It's got a great vintage feel, the model is beautiful, and her makeup is flawless. Note: of course they have to make the magazine about one inch bigger than my scanner so the photos are cropped a little.
